Shop Steward Seminar held in Edmonton January 23 & 24, 2010.
A Shop Steward's Seminar was held in Fort McMurray on November 29th and 30th, 2008. The Local would like to thank Brigitte Sottile from Teamsters Canada in Montreal for facilitating this course. There was a good turn out and the course was well received by the stewards. We hope the information and education the shop stewards received as a result of this course will aid in their continued success as they approach future challenges.
On April 4th and 5th 2009, the Local Union held a Shop Steward Seminar in Calgary, with Brigette Sottile from Teamsters Canada as the instructor. This year the seminar was a more advanced version than previous years. It guided the Stewards through the grievance process and focused on the Steward's role and the importance of the initial investigation in successfully defending a grievance at Arbitration.
On June 6th and 7th, a Level 2 Shop Steward Seminar was held in Edmonton. Brigette Sottile, from the education department of Teamsters Canada brought a wealth of knowledge and instruction to the course that was invaluable to all who attended. The seminar's main focus was working through the different steps in the Grievance Procedure and dealing with management on behalf of the Members.
