Brother Jim Hryniuk, born and raised in Alberta's Peace Country, was introduced to the trucking industry early in life because his step-father worked for Grimshaw Trucking. Jim himself became a driver for Grimshaw Trucking and joined Teamsters LU 362 in July 1975. Our Union was pretty new to Grimshaw Trucking back then, and many battles were being fought. By 1976 Jim became a Steward in order to lend a hand to the very busy Shop Steward. Soon after, Jim found himself the only Teamster Steward at Grimshaw Trucking.

At the time, Jim was a single parent of three children, active as a hockey coach in the community league, and coaching baseball for the community kids in the summer. He also was an avid curler, and played well enough to earn the opportunity to play against many up-and-coming curlers who are today's champions. He is currently a champion himself, winning tournaments in the Wal-Mac 8-ball and Triple E 8-ball pool leagues; playing on a team with his now-adult daughter, who is also a force to be reckoned with on the tables.

Jim increased his involvement in Teamsters LU 362 in 1988 when he was appointed to the Teamsters LU 362 Executive Board and is now the longest-serving member of the Board. Because the Board has four rank-and-file members and three full-time executives, a rank-and-file member was needed to fill the position of Recording Secretary in 1992. Jim stepped up and has held the position ever since.

Jim doesn't quit. He takes pride in his work and is the only employee in Grimshaw Trucking's history who has worked 33 continuous years without a loss of time injury and 33 continuous years without a preventable collision. He holds many trophies earned from being a member of the Grimshaw Trucking driving teams in 25+ annual ATISA truck rodeos.

Jim is proud to be a trucker, proud to be a Teamster, and proud to serve on the Executive Board.
