The Executive Board is responsible for the day to day and long term operation of Local Union 362 of which all actions must be in adherence to the IBT Constitution and Local Union Bylaws.
The Local manages 100 Collective Bargaining Agreements that cover 7,400 Members at 300 locations in the Province of Alberta, and the portion of the N.W.T. lying west of the 110 degrees longitude to the boundary between the N.W.T. and the Yukon Territories. Historically Local 362 covered transportation and construction companies but is now a greatly diverse Local that represents many different industries and types of workers.
The Local Union supports 3 Administrative offices which are in Fort McMurray, Edmonton and the Head Office in Calgary, employing 8 Administrative employees, 13 Business Agents and 1 full-time Organizer. These are the employees that work at the day to day administration of both the office duties (including 3 Industry Dispatch Boards) and the field, representing our Members through negotiations, grievances, and any other matters that arise.
The Executive Board appoints the Directors who oversee 7 employees of the Prairie Teamsters Administration office that manage the affairs of two (2) Pension Plans that cover 10,000 Members and two (2) Health and Welfare plans covering approximately 4,000 Members’ families. In addition, the Local Union Executive Board appoints the Directors that oversee the Training Coordinator and those employees that manage the GTLU362 Training Trust Fund, which is dedicated to our Construction and Pipeline Dispatch Boards.
The responsibilities of the Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Executive Officer of Local 362 compasses the position and duties of the Teamsters Joint Council No. 90 President for Teamster Members in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and the position and duties of the President of our Western Canada Council of Teamsters.
