JAMES R. HOFFA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund is available to children and/or grandchildren of Teamster Members. The Fund was established as a non-profit organization to assist Teamster Member families with post secondary education costs. An Essay Contest has now been made a permanent component of the Fund. Winners will receive one of fifty $1,000 scholarships, with 10 awards distributed to each of the area regions. The Essay Contest is geared toward the student who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of labor principles and the impact of the labor movement in their life.
Local Union No. 362 is very proud of the number of Scholarships that have been awarded to children and grandchildren of Members in our own Local.

Leevon Bennett - $1,000.00Thank you to the selection committee for choosing my application to receive one of the 2009 James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarships. I am truly appreciative and honoured to be presented with a $1,000 “Bootstrap” award. I gratefully accept this award, as it will offer tremendous financial assistance in my freshman year of university.
Thanks also to the Teamsters Local 362, Richard Eiche, (Secretary-Treasurer) and Jackie Brown (Administrator) for endorsing and forwarding my initial application for this scholarship.
I have been given an early acceptance into the Business program (Operations Management) at the University of Calgary (U of C). I have also been accepted at Mount Royal in the same degree program, although it is my second choice.
