Each week Teamsters Local 362 will update our members on what is happening within the local and what our business agents are doing outside of their daily responsibilities. Make sure you check in to see what is happening in the union.
Business Agent Jordan Madarash had a grievance meeting with ASIG Edmonton, Garda Physical, Garda Cash and Garda Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray.
Jordan also visited the membership at the Edmonton International Airport and Brinks Edmonton.
Business Agent Shaun Quaghebeur and other Teamsters 362 leadership met with the Lafarge Edmonton and Area membership to discuss the recent events within Lafarge, and what decisions resulting from the applications in front of the Board means to them.
This week the leadership had their monthly executive board meeting.
Vice-President Wayne Garner chaired multi employer bargaining with Mammoet and Premay and NCSG Trans Tech and Sarens Canada.
Business Agent Ryan Adams started bargaining with Grimshaw Trucking Clerical and he anticipates having a document for the membership to vote on in the near future.Ryan also continues bargaining with the Heavy Haul this week. Both parties continue to table language proposals and will be discussing monetary proposals in these upcoming meetings.
Business Agent Shaun Quaghebeur met with the Inland Acheson membership in Edmonton to discuss the issues at the Board again, and continue handing out information packages to them.
Shaun also had Inland/Stel-Marr Common Employer Application vote, as ordered by the Board. This vote will determine if the Inland/Stel-Marr group will be unionized or not.
On Saturday members of the leadership will be heading to the Teamsters Canada Convention in Vancouver.
Business Agent Lukas Eichel-Fominov is getting ready to start engaging members from Garda Pre-board YYC by spreading surveys for important issues of the CBA for proposals later this year. He also has as “know your contract” postings going out weekly, outlining specific articles and sections of the agreement to engage membership.
The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer will be taking place in Alberta on Aug 12 – 13 and Teamsters 362 will be taking part. Proceeds will be benefiting the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Find out more information about how you can take part http://ab17.conquercancer.ca/.
The 12 Stop Ride For Recovery has announced a date for its ninth year, and Teamsters 362 is proud to take part in it. The fundraiser is a ‘scavenger hunt style’ motorcycle ride to increase awareness of addiction helps us raise funds for the Fresh Start Recovery Centre. This year it will take place on Aug. 26. Come and meet some of the staff and executive from Teamsters 362 who will be taking part in the ride.
